Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Hospitalist?
A hospitalist with Columbus Hospital Medicine is a board-certified physician. This provider specializes in caring for patients who have been admitted to the hospital. This provider works exclusively in the hospital setting to ensure that you receive the best and most thorough care possible while hospitalized.
Who do I contact about billing questions?
You may contact our billing office, HealthPRIME, regarding billing information.
How do I get refills of medications prescribed by a hospitalist?
Please contact your primary care provider if you require a medication refill after being discharged from the hospital.
Does my doctor know you are seeing me?
Yes. During your hospital stay, we are in contact with your doctor. We provide updates on any changes in your condition and when you leave the hospital, we send a summary report of your care to your doctor. This way, your doctor can continue to provide your follow-up care after you return home.
Who will see me after I leave the hospital?
When you leave the hospital, your follow-up care and ongoing care will be provided by your primary care doctor.
What if I don’t have a doctor? Can I get an appointment with my hospitalist?
As hospitalists, we provide care for you while you are in the hospital as an inpatient. We specialize in providing care to patients during their hospital stay, and therefore we do not see patients after they leave the hospital. If you don’t have a doctor, we will help you find one so that you can receive the follow-up care you need after you leave the hospital.
